This Marine Corps PT test calculator scores all three PFT events pull-ups or push-ups, the plank, and the three-mile run and tells you instantly whether you pass, which PFT class you earned, and how many points each event contributed. Enter your sex, age and results above, and the tool applies the age- and sex-normed tables published in Marine Corps Order 6100.13A. Every figure below is sourced from official Marine Corps publications, and the page is updated for the standards in force in 2026.
The rule most Marines get wrong: falling below the minimum in any single event fails the entire PFT, no matter how high your total. The three event minimums only add up to 120 points and passing requires 150.

How each event was scored
Each event scales linearly from the age/sex minimum (40 points) to the maximum (100 points; push-ups cap at 70): points = 40 + (result − min) ÷ (max − min) × range, rounded. The plank and run standards are continuous, so this matches the official tables exactly; pull-up/push-up rep scoring can differ by 1–2 points from the official per-rep table between the anchor values.
Scoring rules
The PFT has three events, each worth 40–100 points, for a maximum of 300. A Marine must reach the minimum in every event — falling short in any single event fails the entire test regardless of total. The three event minimums sum to 120, so additional points are always required to reach a passing total.
- Pass — 150 points or more, with at least the minimum in each event.
- 1st class — 235–300 · 2nd class — 200–234 · 3rd class — 150–199.
- Push-ups may replace pull-ups, but the push-up event is capped at 70 points, so a perfect 300 is only possible with pull-ups.
- Plank replaced crunches for all Marines on 1 Jan 2023. It uses a single scale for every age and sex: 1:10 = 40 pts, 3:45 = 100 pts.
- A 5,000 m row may replace the run for Marines 46+, or (with approval) those who are postpartum or on light-duty for injury. An altitude run table applies at or above 4,500 ft. Both use separate official tables — see sources below.

What this tool is
This calculator is an educational decision-aid that converts the results you enter into an estimated Marine Corps PFT score using publicly published standards. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of the United States Marine Corps or the Department of Defense, and it is not medical, physical-therapy, or official training guidance. The output depends entirely on the values you type.
Verify before it counts
Standards are reviewed and occasionally revised by the Marine Corps. Before any for-record test, confirm the current requirements against Marine Corps Order 6100.13A and the official standards published at fitness.marines.mil, and follow the guidance of your command, PFT monitor, or a qualified fitness professional. Consult a physician before beginning or intensifying an exercise program.
Scope & limits
- Covers the standard PFT: pull-ups or push-ups, plank, and the 3-mile run, for ages 17–51+.
- The 5,000 m row alternative and the altitude run/CFT tables are described but not scored here — use the official tables linked below.
- Certain combat-arms occupational fields carry additional minimum requirements under current policy; check the applicable MARADMIN.
- Scores use linear interpolation between official min/max standards; the plank and run match the official tables exactly, while rep-based events may vary 1–2 points mid-range.

How the Marine Corps PT test calculator works
The Physical Fitness Test is scored out of 300 points: three events, each worth between 40 and 100 points. The Marine Corps PT test calculator on this page converts each raw result — reps, a hold time, a run time — into points using the minimum and maximum performance standards for your age bracket and sex, then adds them together.
The scoring formula behind every event
Each event scales linearly between the performance that earns 40 points (the minimum) and the performance that earns the event maximum:
points = 40 + (result − minimum) ÷ (maximum − minimum) × range
The range is 60 points for pull-ups, the plank and the run, all of which top out at 100. For push-ups the range is 30, because the push-up event is capped at 70 points.
Passing scores and PFT classes
A Marine passes the PFT by scoring 150 points or more and meeting the minimum in all three events. The total then determines the class recorded in the fitness report.
| Result | Total score | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 1st class | 235–300 | Highest classification |
| 2nd class | 200–234 | Pass |
| 3rd class | 150–199 | Minimum passing band |
| Fail | Below 150 | Also fails if any single event is below its minimum |
Marine Corps physical fitness test standards by age and sex
The tables below give the performance needed for the minimum (40 points) and the event maximum in each age bracket. The plank is the exception: it uses a single scale for every Marine. These are the same standards used by the calculator above.
Pull-up standards
Pull-ups are the only upper-body option that can reach 100 points, so a perfect 300 PFT is impossible without them.
| Age | Male | Female | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 40 pts | 100 pts | 40 pts | 100 pts | |
| 17-20 | 4 | 20 | 1 | 7 |

Push-up standards and the 70-point cap
Marines may substitute push-ups for pull-ups, but the event is capped at 70 points. That caps the best possible PFT total at 270.

Plank standards
The plank replaced the abdominal crunch for all Marines from 1 January 2023. It is scored on one scale regardless of age or sex: 1:10 earns 40 points and 3:45 earns 100 points. Roughly 2:41 lands on 75 points.

A 5,000 m row may replace the run for Marines aged 46 and over, and — with approval — for those who are postpartum or on light duty. A separate altitude run table applies at or above 4,500 feet. Both use their own official tables and are not scored by this calculator.
2026 PFT changes: sex-neutral scoring for combat arms Marines
Following the Secretary of War’s Military Fitness Standards memorandum of 30 September 2025, the Marine Corps announced changes in MARADMIN 613/25 that took effect on 1 January 2026.
- Marines in a combat arms primary MOS are now scored on a sex-neutral basis, using the male, age-normed tables in MCO 6100.13A.
- Those Marines must reach a minimum of 210 points — 70% of the maximum — rather than 150.
- Marines who miss 210 by the end of the reporting period are assigned to remedial physical training and may face MOS reclassification or promotion restriction.
- Non-combat-arms Marines continue to use the existing sex- and age-normed standards, which is what this calculator applies by default.
The Marine Corps stated that manpower information systems would take roughly six to eight months to update, with full implementation expected within a year, so units follow interim administrative guidance in the meantime. A later message, MARADMIN 066/26, revised the body composition process — replacing height/weight and the tape test with a waist-to-height ratio method — but did not change PFT event scoring.
If you serve in a combat arms MOS, score yourself with the male standard in the Marine Corps PT test calculator above and treat 210, not 150, as your passing line.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good Marine Corps PFT score?
A first-class PFT is 235 points or higher, so most Marines treat 235 as the benchmark for a good score. 300 is a perfect score. The minimum passing score is 150 points for most Marines, and 210 for those in a combat arms MOS from 2026.
What is the minimum passing PFT score?
150 points out of 300, and you must also meet the minimum standard in each of the three events. Because the three event minimums total only 120 points, you have to exceed the minimum somewhere to pass.
Can you get a 300 PFT with push-ups?
No. The push-up event is capped at 70 points instead of 100, so the highest total achievable with push-ups is 270. Only pull-ups allow a perfect 300.
Do you fail the PFT if you fail one event?
Yes. Scoring below the minimum in any single event is a failure of the whole test, even if your other two events would carry your total above 150.
How long is the plank for a 100 on the PFT?
3 minutes 45 seconds earns the maximum 100 points. The minimum is 1 minute 10 seconds for 40 points. The plank scale is identical for every age and sex.
What replaced crunches on the Marine Corps PFT?
The plank. The abdominal crunch was discontinued on 31 December 2022, and the plank became the sole core event for all Marines from 1 January 2023.
How often do Marines take the PFT?
The PFT is conducted annually, in the window from 1 January to 30 June. The Combat Fitness Test is run in the second half of the year.
Is this Marine Corps PT test calculator official?
No. It is an independent educational tool that applies the publicly published Marine Corps standards. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Marine Corps or the Department of Defense. Confirm any for-record score against MCO 6100.13A and your PFT monitor.
